Request for Proposals

Nutrition Research

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), a contractor of the beef checkoff, is conducting a directed solicitation of proposals for systematic literature reviews. The purpose of this solicitation is to conduct a rigorous and thorough review of the current scientific literature regarding the role of beef and/or its nutrient profile in health and wellbeing. Some health and wellbeing outcomes of interest include growth and development, body composition, physical performance, cognitive capacity, mental toughness, resilience, and longevity, in healthy individuals, across all life stages. The outcome of the literature reviews should be a comprehensive summary of the state of knowledge of the proposed topic, including a discussion on the strengths and limitations of the existing data and a summary of the knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 pm MT, January 18, 2019.

For details, download the full Request for Proposals.

Product Quality Research

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), a contractor to the Beef Checkoff, is soliciting research proposals in the area of Product Quality Research. Specifically, proposals should explore strategies to drive significant improvements in beef product flavor, tenderness and/or juiciness. Research ideas should be novel and of high industry applicability and ROI. And, proposals should focus on improving beef’s overall quality and the consistency of these three major beef palatability attributes.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 pm MT, March 1, 2019. For details, download the full Request for Proposals.

Beef Safety Research

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), a contractor to the Beef Checkoff, is soliciting research proposals for pre-harvest beef safety research. Research ideas should focus on the pre-harvest sector but can include final product sampling where appropriate. A focus on antimicrobial resistance and/or Salmonella reductions will be prioritized. Proposals do NOT need to include both topics but can.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 pm MT, March 15, 2019. For details, download the full Request for Proposals.
